I feel so bad about that now. He needed love. He was special and I did not see it. I seen different. Well, thankfully time has matured me. I cannot turn back time and give him the extra long hug he deserved, but I can show others better attention than I showed him.
At G'pa Krisher's funeral Mason noticed Aunt Della right away. He was not content until he was able to touch her, and learn about her. He hugged her and shared his cookie with her... making me think of Uncle Marvin and my shortcomings with loving him.
Way to go Mason. I am proud that you notice special people and love them openly. May we all be as innocent to people's differences as you are! Don't ever change dear Sonshine! Hugs~ Mom

Mason, you showed your awesomeness once again. Such a special trait, acceptance and unconditional. I remember Marvin too and his HUGS!!! Della is the first to make me aware of Downs, and have learned so much since. Love your post Allie-kat.
Thanks for the memories again. Having Marvin live with us, he was more like a brother than an uncle to me. One of my most vivid memories was at meal time. He would always save his glass of water until he was done eating all of his food and of course the hardy belch came with that. At home it was more amusing and just "part of Marvin". In the restaurants it was quite embarrassing though. No matter how fast we hurried for the door after the water was down, he managed to bring the "hardy belch from the bottom of his toes" out. How I would love to hear it now though :) Nice family pictures too.
oh, i remember uncle marvin too!! i think i was about 4 or 5 the last time i really saw him, and was a little nervous because i'd never met anyone with down's before. but i know that he was pretty special, and della is too. i remember my dad telling neat stories about playing with marvin, and he and mom told us about mason and della, so i've been anxiously watching your blog for some photos :)
thanks for sharing!!
Thank You for sharing your precious story of my special brother, Marvin...yes our girls grew up with him, just I did, & he loved the girls, & yes we have a lot of memories, I think they could tell a lot, but yet he did have a very hearty BURP, I agree, we did try to hurry out of the restaurant before it came, but rarely made it, so Fred would laugh, said we might as well get a kick out it....
Great Aunt Elaine
Thank You from me, too. for sharing your time with Della and thoughts about your Uncle Marvin. Many, many good memories from past days and now these days. They did and are doing their best for their condition and need to love them through it. Nice Mason was drawn to her.
Thanks for all your pics and thoughts. LOVE Great Aunt Myrtle
Mom mentioned about this post on your blog so had to check it out. Marvin was special and left us with lots of memories! So sweet of Mason & Della. These pictures will be some you treasure with lots of memories along with them. Thanks little Mason for inspiring all this reminicing.
